The following note of thanks and photo was posted to Access Energy Cooperative’s Facebook page. This is just one example of the overwhelming gratitude and appreciation experienced by the 46 Iowa co-op linemen who responded to the mutual aid call to help Okefenoke Rural Electric Membership Corporation following Hurricane Irma.
“I cannot say enough GOOD things about your Co-op! We are in northeast Florida, had been without power for day number 6. I happened upon your crew down here working, explained our dilemma, that we had 2 elderly people on our feed, both disabled vets, on fixed incomes and buying gas for generators was an extreme hardship, in addition to the current conditions.
Heat, Humidity, and all the things we have to endure during times like these! We had a downed transformer, downed tree etc…
They came over 20 minutes later and had every thing repaired, replaced, etc. within about 1.5 hours and they literally brought tears to our eyes and had us back on line! Such heroes!!! I cannot say enough about these awesome gentleman and what they did for us! I told them that God sent our Guardian Angels all the way from Iowa to help us out in this tough time…. our whole state is devastated right now! And believe me, we needed all the help we can get!
THIS IS THE AMERICA I GREW UP IN!!! Friends and neighbors helping friends and neighbors! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and souls! We don’t even know their names but we KNOW who they are and what they represent! And will remember them!”
