Safety is very important at Access Energy Cooperative. Our linemen wear a lot of very important protective safety gear. Safety gear is generally very expensive but crucial to protect the line workers. If you are not wearing this equipment, you should not be any where near power lines. Hard Hat: Protection from falling debris.

Safety Glasses: Blocks hazardous glare, particularly when working on energized line.

Hearing Protection: Protection from loud noise.
Safety Harness: Protection when working in elevated positions. Attaches to the boom on truck.

Rubber Gloves: Protection from electrical contact.

Rubber Glove Protectors: Worn over the insulated rubber gloves for protection from tearing or punctures.

Hot Stick: Tool for moving or adjusting electrical equipment that is energized or "hot".

Rubber Sleeves: Protects arms from unintentional electrical contact.

Fire Retardant Shirt: Protection from burns in event of an electrical contact. Bright color makes worker highly visible in high traffic areas.

Reflection on shirt: Extra protection for visibility- especially at night.

Work Boots: Composite toe required to protect feet from falling debris. Provides extra arch support for climbing poles.
