Each member of Access Energy Cooperative has a dividend account at the cooperative where your dividend allocations accumulate. When the Board allocates margins, your portion is allocated to your dividend account. Notices are then printed on your May or June bill to let you know how much was allocated to your account.
Once the financial statements for the year are reviewed, it is determined by the board of directors if it is in the best interest of the cooperative to approve a dividend payment to the members from these accounts. In 2023, the board approved a dividend payment to the members in the amount of $1,181,879.39. This refund is 100% of the dividends for 2002 and 2003, 23% for 2004 (NE Power), 43% of 2007, 21% of 2008, and 15% of 2022.
Dividend checks that were not picked up at the annual meeting on August 1st will be mailed out to members during the week of August 21st. Checks will be sent to the most current address we have on file. The cooperative will not be printing checks for amounts under $5.00. These amounts will be added to next year’s refund.
Members also have the option to receive their dividend payments as a bill credit. To take advantage of this option, please call our finance department or email them at finance@accessenergycoop.com. Any member who has signed up for this will not have a check to pick up at the annual meeting.
